Welcome To The
First Nations Heritage Centre
Who We Are
The First Nations Collective Trust is a sovereign, duly constituted body representing, historically endorsed, recognised and fully legitimate structures within the Peninsula Khoi Indigenous structures and allied structures nationally.
Rooted in the enduring spirit of our ancestors, the First Nations Collective has been at the very coalface of the post-apartheid Khoi and San resurgence in South Africa.
The Western Cape First Nations Collective represents the majority of senior Khoi and San leaders and their councils in the Cape Peninsula and beyond, including those of the Gorinhaiqua, Gorachouqua, Cochoqua, Korana, Griqua Royal Houses, Kalahari indigenous communities under leadership of elder Petrus Vaalbooi, San Royal House of Nǀǀnǂe under Queen Katrina Esau, and other indigenous structures including those affiliated to the National Khoi-San Council, the Institute for the Restoration of Aboriginal South Africa and the Khoi Cultural Heritage Development Council.
The First Nations Collective was formed as an act of indigenous self determination and indigenous agency to cement our right of return to the Redeveloped River Club, in the Two Rivers Indigenous heritage precinct as our permanent place of anchorage.

What We Do
The First Nations Heritage Centre rises in an area from which our ancestors were forcefully displaced nearly four centuries ago. This space transforms a site of historical trauma into one of celebration and renewal. It is the physical manifestation of cultural resurgence and healing.
We celebrate and share our culture through storytelling, art, music and performance. The First Nations Centre is a vital educational resource, ensuring that the languages, customs and wisdom of the First Nations peoples continue to thrive and enrich our collective future.
The First Nations Heritage Centre includes exhibition galleries which showcase the hidden histories and cultural treasures of the Khoi and San. The components of the Heritage Centre include a centre for the healing of inter-generational trauma, and indigenous knowledge institute, a First Nations leadership academy and a First Nations media and communications centre.
